Design Training That Actually Prepares You
We built this program after watching too many designers struggle with tools they never really learned to use properly. Starts September 2025.
Talk About Your GoalsQuestions People Usually Ask
Most questions fall into three categories. Before you start, while you're learning, and after you finish. Here's what we hear most often.
Before Starting
- Do I need design experience already
- What's the actual time commitment
- Can I work while taking this
- How much does the software cost
- What if I fall behind
During Training
- How do I get help when stuck
- Can I redo assignments
- What if I miss a session
- Do you review my portfolio work
- How technical does this get
After Completion
- Will I have portfolio pieces
- Do you help with job search
- Can I come back with questions
- What's the next skill to learn
- How long until I'm job-ready
Real Projects From Day One
You won't spend weeks on theory. We start with an actual mobile app redesign in the first session. You'll make mistakes early, which is the point.
Every project mirrors something we've done for clients. App onboarding flows. E-commerce checkout redesigns. Dashboard interfaces that people actually use daily.
- Design four complete mobile interfaces
- Build a working prototype in Figma
- Present to actual product managers
- Get feedback like you would at work
What You'll Actually Learn
Mobile design isn't just making things smaller. It's understanding touch targets, thumb zones, and how people hold their phones on the MTR.
We focus on Hong Kong users specifically. Different screen time patterns. Different app preferences. Different expectations for speed and efficiency.
- iOS and Android design systems
- Component libraries that scale
- Responsive layouts that work
- User testing with real people
The Practical Side
Classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7pm to 9:30pm. Twelve weeks total, starting September 2025. You'll need about eight hours per week for homework.
You need a laptop that can run Figma smoothly. We'll cover software setup in week one. No design experience required, but you should be comfortable learning technical tools.
Who's Teaching This
Three designers who've worked on apps you probably have on your phone. They still take client work, so they're teaching current practices, not outdated methods.
Torsten Kjeldsen
Lead Mobile Designer
Spent six years at a fintech startup that grew to 2 million users. Now freelances for banks and insurance companies. Very particular about button states.
Callum Donohue
UX Research Lead
Runs user testing sessions for e-commerce apps. Has watched hundreds of people try to complete checkout flows. Knows exactly where designs break down in practice.
Idris Solberg
Design Systems Expert
Built component libraries for three different product teams. Obsessed with making designs that developers can actually implement without asking twenty questions.
Ready to Start Learning
September 2025 enrollment opens in May. We take sixteen students per session. Get in touch if you want to know more about what's involved.
